My practice is driven by the belief that life is an act of creation and constant becoming. We are constantly creating our self through the act of discovery as we explore the world around us, what draws us in, and what gives us life. Through the use of abstract ink, watercolor, and scientific illustration I explore the interplay of light, dark, color, and form in a process of exploration of the world, my self, and their interconnectedness.
Born in the Bay Area, I moved to Portland Oregon and fell in love with the temperate rainforest surrounding it. I have been painting and illustrating since 2004, adding traditional Chinese and Japanese styles in 2017 when I began the project "1,000 Days of Enso", a personal piece documenting my physical and emotional healing from a debilitating injury. Since it's completion I have expanded into more abstract works and representational pieces of animals and plants in the tradition of scientific illustration.
