About The Artwork

Painting Acrylic and Gouache on 100% Rag paper. Three trips to China making Ceramic works for the American Ceramic Museum in Fuping, an exhibition in Xion, and trips to Nanjing with exhibition in contemporary museum while doing an Artist in residence influenced this work. Living in China for three months. The subject matter is influenced by stories of the people in China and travels to places where much was about Mao. The Vase is influenced as my first trip was to the pottery village jingdezhen. The vessel has many connotations that are figurative and about embodying the spirit and or space of stories told so it acts as a metaphor for the figure. Disney influenced children in China in a very positive way when bringing Disney World to China. Children hold the key to acceptance and harmony through their innocence and love of life. Disney had the intention to show value of relationships and still teach us to remain lighthearted.
