Thiago Gadelha

Thiago Gadelha is an artist and filmmaker currently living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In 2007 he graduated in directing for cinema and television from the New York Film Academy in, Los Angeles, CA. From there he went on to creating a dark comedy series entitled “Small Bits of Happiness”. The series was critically acclaimed and won the best comedy award in 2008 at the Independent Television and Film Festival (ITV Fest) and was also nominated for the Greenlight Awards at South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin that same year.

Always dabbling in art, Thiago took up a paintbrush formally in 2008 and had his first impromptu show at the home of Richard Barrie in Sarasota. From there Thiago begun to work painting on a comissioned basis for several collectors.

In 2013 moved to Copacabana and set up a studio on his rooftop, where he paints daily. This year his paintings were featured in the art magazine “InVoga”, in the European magazine "Wonder" and he was also commissioned to create the cover art for steemed Brazilian MPB singer Luiza Possi’s newest album.

Thiago is currently working with the largest Brazilian television company, Rede Globo, writing a comedy series entitled “Tá No Ar" that won in 2015 the award for best ...
