About The Artwork

Being Basquiat, what would it feel to be inside the head of Basquiat 2022 and combined his thoughts with my style of art? In the collection Being Basquiat I’m letting myself be influenced by Basquiat’s work, using the medium and details I love. Being stamps, stencils and spray paint or some paper clips from old Life-magazines. In Sky is the Limit a recurring theme has been the key – the feeling of freedom and the sky is the limit. The music has been loud in my studio, the smiles and dance moves many. It’s been like Jean-Michel himself has been sitting in the room with his clarinet playing along. In this artwork you’ll find elements typical for Basquiat, the crowns, the ladder, arrows, and words. I’ve added elements typical for me, the spray-painted birds and butterflies, the stamps from around the world that I often use to symbolize one world. And the airplane dragging the thirteenth line away.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Pia Lilenthal is a contemporary street mix-media artist. She combines stencil work with multiple layers and techniques in the backgrounds. It could be watercolor, acrylic paint, screen printing, collages of stamps. Or a mix of them all. Portraits are a common motif, often women, containing details connected to the person in the different layers. Her background as graphic designer and long experience of making sketches digitally, comes handy when planning compositions and different color combinations. The final artwork though, is always made by hand.
