Hans van Meeuwen's body of work includes sculptures, drawings, and five public installations in Europe and the US. He was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and now lives and he recently moved to Co. Donegal Ireland In 2019 he was awarded a Pollack-Krasner Foundation grant and an Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation grant. More recently, he was a finalist in the Wingless Dreamer 2020 Best illustrator Award Contest. Hans' most recent public art installation was completed in 2019 as part of the expansion of the light rail system in Phoenix AZ. His earlier four installations were in his home country of the Netherlands (photos available on his website, ). A collector of his work recently expressed, "Hans’ art always makes me laugh because there is always some kind of disproportion and an improbability that seeds my imagination." Although there is certainly humor and whimsicality in Hans' work, there is also pathos, and mystery. His work comes from deep inside him, and is designed to elicit thought and emotion from deep inside those who see and engage with his work.
