These small-format works serve not merely as studies, but as concentrated meditations—autonomous visual essays in which the essence of form, color, and thought are distilled into a limited spatial field. These works, though modest in dimension, function as philosophical fragments—each one a reflecti...

Binasa Memić is a Bosnian abstract painter whose practice explores the intersection of geometric abstraction and expressionism. Her work investigates the dynamics of color relationships, the symbolism of structure, and the psychological weight of form. Through a balance of calculated geometry and emotive, expressive backgrounds, Memić constructs visual fields that oscillate between order and rupture. Her paintings often engage with themes of human limitation, technological imposition, and the fragile boundary between natural instinct and external control. Influenced by both modernist traditions and the rich visual culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina—including the motifs of the Bosnian kilim—Memić creates compositions that are at once rigorous and intuitively felt. She considers each piece a philosophical fragment, a silent architecture of thought translated into chromatic rhythm and tension. Memić earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. She has exhibited in Sarajevo, Mostar, St. Petersburg, Velika Plana, Karlovac, and Srebrenik, among others. Her work has been shown at venues such as the Collegium Artisticum, Galerija Roman Petrović, and the Novi Hram Gallery as part of the Sarajevo Winter Festival. While her work is deeply rooted in her cultural and personal context, Memić is ultimately concerned with developing a distinct, autonomous visual language—one that speaks across boundaries of place, identity, and form.
