This painting is from the series "The Intersection of Structure and Flow". The Flow in the painting is the organic, swirling forms and they reflect a spiritual connection with nature. The perspective and grid elements create three-dimensional space that has both depth and context. Adding the 'flow' to these spaces creates an interplay between the spiritual and structural aspects of our world. Organic abstraction with structural elements. Painting and drawing, poured paint.Organic abstraction within structural forms; color, drawing.

I grew up beside a lake in a rural part of New Jersey, spending my days outdoors as much as the weather would allow. My consciousness became attuned to the rhythms of the seasons and the energy of nature, both visible and invisible, and the connection between the tangible aspects of nature and the spiritual realm that I experience there. The impact on me of these influences is the basis for my painting. Making art through the lens of abstraction has led me down countless paths of exploration. My paintings are not planned with preliminary drawings or sketches. Each work of art is a result of a journey taken within each piece. Like embarking on a trip without maps or plans in place, the voyage begins with a blank surface. Working intuitively, I rely on my impulses to guide me. There is a meandering quality to my travels, with unexpected discoveries along the way. At some point in time, clarity of intention and image begin to emerge and the recognition that this investigation is nearing its end. The joy of new discoveries and surprises during my creative process is central to my motivation to keep painting. I like to experiment with materials and mark-making and often refer to my studio as a laboratory. The synthesis of my creativity, intuition, spiritual curiosity, and life experience into paintings is the embodiment of my life as an artist.
