About The Artwork

Un-Constituted-Re-Constituted is a process based piece of work. The screen print consists of six layer print, the layers were created from deconstructed a reconstituted block of wood. The colour palette is taken from another piece of reconstituted foam. The work was installed in Glasgow, Govanhill Baths - Dip Your Toe exhibition. The idea between taken oneself apart and rebuilding yourself in another persons ideal was what I was trying to explore with this work.

Born and raised in Buckinghamshire, UK in 1979. Dickie has worked overseas in New Zealand, North/South America, Japan and Europe for 17 years and spends half the year in New Zealand and the rest in artist residencies around the world or nestled in a mountain resort coaching snowboarding. Through my nomadic adult life, I have learnt to adapt to different environments, constantly altering my connection to landscape. My current practice explores the potential that exists within disremembered spaces, investigating these spaces both physically and virtually for their anthropomorphic qualities. Just like a good conversation you never want it to end my connection to landscape seems to grow stronger the more I experience it. My studio works take advantage of subtle technologies, sound and kinetic elements, disrupting our everyday sensory awareness of space. Outside the studio I introduce heterotopic objects into abandoned spaces, these forms suggest what could be or might happen and allow the mind to see beyond the relative space. These interventions feed back into my studio as case studies for better understanding about the potential contained within these sites. I intend the works to sit somewhere between the familiar and imaginary, as do the liminal spaces with vague boundaries and vacant thresholds. www.dickiewebb.com
