Bob Gale

I have been a free spirit and a dreamer from an early age. I found solace and empathy in the natural world and at the same time I relished reading about Impressionist painters in a collection of encyclopaedias at home.
Landscape together with the human form is the motivation for my work. I still daydream and it has become an essential adjunct to creativity.

My Father placed great emphasis on maths, a subject I had little interest in. Despite having private tuition and being sent to a private school the only subjects I excelled in were Art and English.
I studied painting and drawing at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol.
I then did an apprenticeship in the design studio at
ES and A Robinsons, a printing company in Bristol.
After 5 years I left and devoted myself to painting with some occasional teaching.
