The art I make – subject, size, medium, surface, use – changes as my life changes. After studying fine art, mostly painting, in college, I moved to West Africa where drawing on newspaper with pastels and working with fabric was the most practical for me. When I started living in tiny city apartments without the art studios of college, oil paints became prohibitively messy, so I switched to watercolors. For years, I traveled full-time as a management consultant, which made photography the most accessible medium. Once I was home more, painting became an option again.
What has not changed is my love of color. It has been a consistent part of the art I create whether working with paints, fabrics, paper, printmaking, bookmaking, or sculpture. My recent paintings are abstracts that evoke natural structures as well as being studies of movement, energy, and color.
I am based in the South End of Boston, MA (US). I have 75 paintings in private and corporate collections as well as a number of etched prints and photographs. I also welcome requests for commissions.
