Old credit cards, rulers, and Tupperware lids have been my favorite tools to utilize for my paintings. I think of my work as a fluid relationship between my soul and the canvas, while sharing an intimate part of me with the rest of the world. The deep layered textures formed with sand, pumice, and sometimes even lace, are instrumental in gaining the effect I desire. I paint with music in my ears, wine on my lips and an open heart. My strokes and "scrapes" are rhythmic, and with each layer comes the satisfaction of knowing the significance of every groove and crevice. Because of the colored textures and layers, each art piece seemingly changes color depending on the time of day, enhancing each perspective. Each piece is conceptualized and premeditated, not through planning, but brought to fruition by dreams, visions, and the moment of reflection prior to delving into the painting. When I paint, I tap into my subconscious and bring it to the surface visually. When I transpire every emotion like water squeezed from a sponge, I know the work is complete.
