I don't get much of peaceful, uninterrupted sleeps. This was the main inspiration of my piece. The majority of this painting is done with acrylic, has some collage pieces and has satin varnish on top.

Contact us.I am an Iranian-Canadian artist whose paintings move between figuration and abstraction. My work often begins with the body, but the figure rarely remains stable. Through layered colour, disrupted forms, and shifting compositions, I create images where bodies appear to float, fall, dissolve, or reassemble themselves.
My paintings explore motherhood, memory, doubt, care, and the emotional weight of inherited histories. Drawing from my experience as an immigrant woman and mother, I approach painting as a space where personal and collective narratives can be reworked rather than fixed. Older marks, unfinished surfaces, and previous images often remain visible, allowing each painting to carry its own history while becoming something new.
My work is shaped by an interest in the tension between vulnerability and resistance. Figures in my paintings may appear suspended, fragmented, or in motion, but they are not passive. They exist in states of transition, holding both uncertainty and force. My recent paintings reflect on intergenerational relationships, the instability of memory, and the ways bodies carry emotional, cultural, and familial traces.
I am currently pursuing an MFA in Visual Arts at the University of British Columbia. I have exhibited in Canada and internationally and has taught visual arts in several institutions.
