Robbert Buys (1969) was born and raised in The Hague. He lived in Amsterdam for 25 years and is a self-taught painter and photographer, inspired by Jackson Pollock, Karel Appel, Jan Cremer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Jan Steen, Vincent van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Willem de Kooning, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí.
After 45 years of living in the city he moved to the country to do some serious abstract painting.
