My name is Valeriy Babynin, I was born, raised and live in Odessa, Ukraine. Since childhood, I began to study and master fine arts in the children's art studio of our city. Later I entered and graduated from the Odessa State Art College named after M. B. Grekov, where I studied in the painting department. After studying at the college, at various times I worked as a set designer at the Odessa Opera House, an artist at the Odessa Film Studio, a master of monumental art at the Odessa Art Fund (making stained glass, mosaics); I also had my own production of glass painting and decorative and applied glass. But, no matter what I do in life, I cannot give up painting, which I studied since childhood. It merged in my soul with Odessa, with people, with life itself and became a part of my inner world. Once upon a time, in my youth, these lines came to mind: Do not touch me, my sorrows, Leave the mind with its daring dreams - Today, Heaven has married me To the mysterious essence of beauty. And I stand, afraid to move, Regretting that death is far away, Neither to scream, nor to fall, nor to look back - I am in the sky - too high. Echoes of this revelation sound in my heart to this day. Sometimes, completely unexpectedly, passing by familiar places, I seem to fall through time, and some force takes me to a place where there is neither time nor death, and I again see the faces of acquaintances, friends of the past... Maybe that is why I love to walk the streets of my hometown, stop and watch people, dissolve in the crowd and feel my involvement in everything that is happening. Sometimes the beauty of God's creation - the sky, the air, nature, man - and the beauty of man's own creations - architecture, things, household items - wonderfully and whimsically merge in the urban landscape. To convey the harmony of this unity on canvas is the most difficult thing for me and at the same time the most valuable thing in painting. And I think about the air, the unique air of Odessa. I grew up and studied in the Odessa underground of the 80s, experimenting in different styles and schools, and eventually realized the enduring value of the givenness of being. In contemplating the real world, there is a certain line beyond which something greater than physical reality opens up. I try to capture this on canvas, and sometimes I succeed. When you paint, you feel it. At the same time, I like abstraction, minimalism, everything that is done seriously and with great dedication.
