Memories of a Flower Bed Painting

Michelle was born in Ayrshire and moved to Glasgow in her early 20s. She graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with a BA(hons) in Fine Art after a successful degree show and she continues to create and sell art from her studio at The Briggait. Michelle experiences the world around her dominantly through colour, and is also interested in colour theory. She uses this as the primary attribute in creating a visual message. Michelle often paints her memories and emotions, using portraits and landscapes or abstracts to convey emotional experiences that can't always be effectively expressed in words. She likes to break the image down and then restructure it bit by bit, in a way that gives each small part equal status. By working in many layers, Michelle develops a visual and emotional dialogue with the painting itself, blurring the lines between abstract and representation.
