Ximena Rojas is a self-taught artist from Cochabamba, Bolivia, a city affectionately known as La Ciudad Jardín (The Garden City) for its eternal spring and lush floral landscapes. Surrounded by year-round blooms and natural beauty, she developed an early fascination with flowers, their grace, symbolism, and fleeting presence. This connection to nature became the foundation of her artistic journey. Her medium of choice is cold porcelain, a traditional, air-dry clay widely used across South America, especially in Argentina and Brazil. Made from cornstarch and white glue, cold porcelain is prized for its silky smoothness, flexibility, and porcelain-like finish. Once dry, it achieves a subtle translucency and delicate strength, perfectly suited for capturing the minute details of organic forms. Through her art, Ximena creates lifelike floral sculptures that blur the line between nature and craftsmanship. Each petal, leaf, and stem is meticulously shaped by hand, resulting in pieces that feel almost alive, fragile yet enduring, poetic yet precise. Her work is a celebration of the natural world, preserving the emotion and beauty of real flowers in a form that lasts. With a background in business and a Master’s in Business Administration, she brings an entrepreneurial spirit and refined sense of purpose to her creative practice. Entirely self-taught, her artistry is driven by passion, discipline, and a deep-rooted connection to the garden-like environment of her hometown. Her sculptures invite viewers to pause, observe, and experience the quiet elegance of nature, translated into timeless botanical art.
