Jenny Ault

Through my art practice I investigate the boundaries between the internal and external self; particularly in relationship to the unconscious selection and use of different materials as personal symbols.
I am currently exploring the inseparability of mental and social space and how we inhabit two distinct and separate worlds, one, private, mental and interior; the other physical, public, external. The fusion of interior and exterior is what interests me; where one form encloses another as an interlocking space.
My degree was studied at Reading University in Fine Art, painting, followed by working as an artist in residence in secondary schools. I then qualified to become a art teacher and taught in schools for 15 years.
I am currently taking time to focus on my own practise and studying for an MA.
