Maura's artistic journey is a profound testament to the transformative power of art. Her inspiration sparked from a place of solace and reflection after being deeply and personally being touched by war's misery and losses. Her earliest memory of drawing trees at the tender age of five foreshadowed a lifelong exploration of the artistic realm, along with a lifelong affinity for photography. Maura's formal education was initially in water media, thanks to exceptional instructors in Nashville. From there, she journeyed to the hallowed halls of New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), where she delved into the world of Abstract Expressionism. It is in this foundational study and an insatiable journey of unearthing new processes and defying conventional artistic norms that Maura's distinctive artistry takes shape. Maura defies traditional boundaries in the art world, fearlessly experimenting with a wide array of materials to create both abstract and figurative works. Her art is not merely an aesthetic pursuit but a channel for conveying hope and joy in the face of formidable challenges.Through her creations, she reminds us of the resilience of the human spirit and the belief that things will unfold as they are meant to. Maura's work has graced solo exhibitions and earned acclaim in juried competitions. Her works have found homes in collections across the world, from Nashville to San Francisco, from Canada to Scotland, Germany, and Australia. Today, Maura enjoys her creative sanctuary in her home studio in suburban Maryland, where she follows her passion and her muse wherever they take her.
