About The Artwork

I was inspired by the film" Barbarians "in which the Romans call the German tribes defending their lands barbarians. When I was young, I received an commissing to paint a picture on the theme of the Caucasus. I began to prepare the material, found the book and was struck by the lies and propaganda that was in this book ... There my people, defending their freedom in the struggle against a huge empire, were described as barbaric cruel tribes, just like in the movie Barbara, where the Roman Empire calls the German tribes Barbarians. But why did huge empires, seizing foreign lands, call people fighting for freedom and independence barbarians? Although the invading empires themselves used barbaric methods, felling trees with fruits, burning crops ... No, my people are not Barbarians ... and I am not a barbarian.

Ramz Gadzh lives and works in Stockholm. I grew up in a southern republic of the Soviet Union and have always enjoyed drawing and drawing as a child. I am inspired by society, people and our world. When I was a young artist, I worked a lot in the portrait genre. In recent times, my inspiration is often drawn from society and from within. Symbolism is my favorite direction. With the symbols I can express myself in the best way. But I do not just appear in symbolism. My works can be varied from a landscape of impressionism style to political caricatures. Techniques are also different. I experiment a lot with techniques, mixing them together. However, I still use mainly oil. I use painting as a trace to tell, criticize, explain what I am unable to express in speech or writing. So that I tell in my art about love, life and death, good and evil, about the burdens of people and the burdens of modern society, about lying politicians, false values etc. In art, the most important thing to me is the idea. My favorite artist is Robert Banksy. But I am also inspired by Leonardo do Vinchi, Bosch, Klimt.
