ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I came a cross the list published by the Guardian, of the emigrants and refugees perished trying to reach Europe, more than 35.000 men , women and children dead One of the things that shocked me more , besides the long number of deaths was that one of the most used words in the list was “unknown”, human beings dying with no names, no age, no country …once more the process of dehumanization goes through denying Identity , that’s why I decided to call this new project the tale of Unknown, trying to focus people attention on this slaughter of human beings with neither past nor future, and honour them.

Marta Valls has a Fine Arts degree from Barcelona University (1988), specialising in Photography. Marta lived and worked in England from 1988-1990, where started her artist professional career. In 1990 was invited by the Fondazione Italiana per la fotografia (Photography Italian foundation) to take part to the Bieannale di Fotografia (Fototgraphy biennal) with a personal exhibition, since then, Marta has lived and worked in Turin. She is an Art teacher in the secondary school. She has exhibited in many galleries in Italy and Europe.
