A bubble chamber is a vessel in which the movements of subatomic particles can be visualised. From the 1950s to the 1970s, CERN has been using the bubble chamber to investigate the behavior of subatomic particles. During the 6th Ceramics Symposium in Romhild (GDR) in 1990, I made my first “Dutch Landscape”, an installation of ceramic waves and ships. The longing for the landscape of my youth has remained an inspiration for my work for many years: The flat land near the North Sea, at the edge of the continent. This nostalgia is represented by the ships, clouds, water, wind, the Dutch landscape. In recent years my focus has been on another theme. Since high school I have been interested in physics and astronomy, but only now I have time to study and attend lectures on physics and astronomy. In my visual work I report on this learning process. My aim is to show the beauty of logic and science. I am working on several projects: • “Notes on matter and antimatter.” (since 2020) • “The Great American Eclipse”: April 8 2024, I was in Texas to photograph the solar eclipse. I used these photos in my ceramic work. • I just started working with my first DIY particle detector. Charged particles that are always around us are visualized in this simple detector. Photos and films have been taken and will be further edited.
