Amazon Sculpture

In the ancient Greek mythology of the Amazon - tribes of women - warriors who inhabited the Black Sea coast. According to the myth, they lived near the rivers of Thermodont and Iris. They were superb in horseback riding, shooting arrows, throwing darts and constantly practicing martial arts. The sculptor, enjoying the study of myths and legends, mentally imagined and depicted in bronze the beautiful queen of the Amazons, seated on a throne in the form of a shell and gracefully moving on his helmet and a new gold armor-the gifts of Artemis for assisting King Priam in defending Troy. The whole composition breathes the classical beauty of beautiful Greece - a country of fabulous myths, great art and an inexhaustible source of inspiration. The author, working on the image, paid special attention to the inner movement in the composition, thinking about a harmonious combination of volumes, moving from large volumes to small ones, covering them with gold and encrusting them with precious stones.
