It's The Thought That Counts is a wall-hung sculpture that is part of my series that deconstructs and celebrates typography. It combines plasma-cut 1/8" steel (with a rust patina), with mixed woods. The left and right "parentheses" are bent laminated wood of mixed varieties, giving them a subtle linear texture. For a piece this size, it is surprisingly light and is ready to hang without any special hanging hardware and doesn't require wall studs.

I am a sculptor whose works have been exhibited in museums and art galleries throughout the United States. I was born in Detroit, Michigan USA and now work from my studio in Highland Park, Michigan (an enclave of Detroit.) My sculpture is almost entirely abstract. I began working predominantly in clay, and then steel, and more recently I often work in wood. My work is distinguished by my use of contrasting materials, textures, and the juxtaposition of the organic and the industrial. My sculpture is also informed by my work as a graphic designer, a field in which I have also worked steadily.
