Elena Marini's 'visual poetry in progress' has as its fundamental value synthesis and essentiality. It is not narrative but cinematic: it is not for nothing that her collages are 'SPOT'.
Each of her works is a frame of a film in continuous construction: a film that will never have an end, a film that has the same temporal length as the author's life. The images (found and recovered) are decidedly self-referential, like the dryness of the texts that accompany or integrate them: there is no more comma, there is no more word than is necessary. Dry, sharp works, that do not allow second thoughts.
Marini's collages prove that 'visual poetry' is not yet dead, as the crows of art often say, those always ready to praise any new 'connerie' that appears in five-yearly time cycles on the glossy pages of fashionable art magazines.
Poetry resists and is not...
