Louise Man

Based in Thaxted, north Essex, I am surrounded by views of country fields and footpaths that change with each season. Having lived in Australia for 10 years, the seasons here in the UK continue to delight me, bringing with them inspiration for paintings, from frosty and misty landscapes, to vibrant flowers and lush green fields.

Apart from studying art at A-level and a few workshops along the way, I am an entirely self-taught artist feeling my way through my creativity journey, discovering what inspires me, excites and surprises me.

I am influenced by impressionism and expressionism, enjoying the process of painting, the very act of applying it, watching magic happen with mark making and colour placement.

I love painting landscapes, florals and abstracts in a variety of media including oils, acrylics and watercolours. I enjoy the very essence of each medium I work with - the buttery thickness of oil paintings, the layering that's possible with fast-drying acrylics and the transparency and magical mark making of watercolours.

Painting is my calm, my go-to for relaxation, where I enjoy the process as a form of meditation and total absorption.
