Tory Irvine

Tory has an affinity with colour. She works intuitively building layers that invite the energy of the moment. Painting is an opportunity to loose herself away from the noise of everyday life. Its a space to let go of control and be open to new discoveries. It's where she feels most alive and free.
The paintings represent an openhearted approach to creativity and the endless possibilities when we stay open and curious.

The paintings are mostly acrylic, washes of vibrant ink,
punctuated with mark making and drawn lines woven within the layers.

Away from the studio, Tory notices shapes and colours in everyday life that interest her and ignite ideas. She lives by the sea in Connemara in the West of Ireland. The sea blues and greens of Galway Bay and the lush and muddy greens of Connemara are her colour palette.

She's interested in capturing the visceral feelings of these places. Feelings of being grounded, free, uplifted, excited and renewed.

Tory has exhibited in both individual and group shows. Her work has been bought by many private collectors as well as for large commercial spaces, such as The Dean Hotel Galway and The Wren Hotel, Dublin. She is a member of Visual Artists Ireland.

Tory graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin with a degree in Fashion Design. She went on to work both abroad and at home designing in house and freelance.

Although she has a love for textiles, she yearned for more freedom in her expression and painting became her outlet.
