Lara Wasiljewa (b. 1973) is a contemporary seascape painter whose work explores the luminous tension between silence and movement, air and light, memory and eternity.
Born in Ukraine and based in Poland, she has developed a highly distinctive visual language that bridges classical painting and timeless collecting. Although not born by the sea, Wasiljewa returned to it again and again throughout her life. From early childhood, she made repeated journeys to the coast, forming a deep visual memory of the sea’s moods, light, and infinite horizon.
This connection became the foundation of her artistic identity — rooted in visual intelligence, compositional clarity, and a refined sensitivity to the atmosphere of nature.
Her works are created in oil on canvas, using traditional glazing techniques and nuanced tonal transitions inspired by academic realism. At the same time, her paintings possess a uniquely contemporary voice — one of restraint, clarity, and timeless presence. This fusion of classical depth and modern precision has become her signature.
In 2024, her work was officially certified and valued by Akoun (France) through Artmajeur, confirming her presence in the European art market and positioning her as an artist of long-term...
Lara Wasiljewa has developed her technique through a disciplined, self-directed engagement with the traditions of academic painting. Her practice is grounded in years of studying 19th-century European masters and the atmospheric language of nature itself.
Working from her studio in Poland, she has refined a personal method rooted in classical oil glazing, tonal harmony, and compositional clarity. Her approach reflects both technical precision and a deeply internalized visual memory shaped by decades of dedicated work.
