Core Sway

I have no formal training and am self-taught, but over the last year or two, have looked at ways to get my art
out there into the wider public space. My work is inspired by a number of different areas –graffiti, street art,
collage, mixed media, pop art, expressionism, reusing old or discarded materials. There is no real preparation, I
just get straight to work on the canvas.
I produce work that’s experimental and influenced by seeing something around me that triggers a response -
this can be adverts, magazine clippings, discarded ephemera, TV and film.
Usually what's on my mind goes straight onto the canvas without much thought as to what the finished
product might be initially. I just have a rough idea and then see what happens – it’s much more fun and
spontaneous that way.
In terms of inspiration, essentially culture in general forms an important part. I love music, art, fashion,
photography, film, TV, o it's generally something in one of these areas that sparks an idea in me. I am also a DJ
and drummer so those activities sometimes play a role too!
