Spring: Emergence VI Print

I live near the Sonoran Desert Preserve. On my first hike of the Spring to see the cacti flowering, I was struck by the richness of color in the blooms against the pale sage green cactus and its gray/white spines creating a soft glow in the backlight of the sunrise. So much color bursting through! There is a delicate feel visual to it all. This Spring series is all about that color and the very short cycle it has before the heat sets in. From the flowers come the fruits that feed birds, javelina, rabbits, and ground squirrels. It is a vision of abundance. From the Emergent series, Spring: Emergence VI speaks to explosive growth of transformation that has been hidden in the dark. Powerful energy represented by the gold leaf prepares new paths to be chosen and opens the way for a mindshift . . . a positive commitment for change so that we too may bloom. Expressing the ephemeral in a more visual way reflects the emotions that flow through my hands to the canvas. I can get the brushes and paint to mirror unseen thought as opposed to the metal showing literal movement. I respond to the nebulous, the intuitive as it flows through me. Painting allows me to escape the physical. Painting is signed on the back, deep gallery wrap-edges are painted a coordinating color.
