Classically trained in graphic design and typography at Rhode Island School of Design, I was a designer and creative director in corporate and consumer branding for over twenty years. Although my career changed a few years ago, I am still influenced by visual systems and structures, information design, and the iterative process of developing visual vocabularies. I admire the work of fine artists, designers, theorists, and architects: Edward Tufte, Mies van der Rohe, Shiela Hicks, Joan Mitchell, Frank Lloyd Wright, Shigeru Ban, Santiago Calatrava.
I discovered painting in 2016 as a component for processing an experience, which, at that time, was the response to a traumatic life event. Since then, I continue to be inspired by the way the work is a documentation or extension of how I process experience, underscoring the importance of harnessing momentum established when exploring a body of work. The work is reflective of a unique moment in time and the relationships we have with ourselves, others and the greater space around us.
The original painted works are the foundation of my collection of wallpapers and textiles which are available to the interior design and architecture trade.
