Ioanna Pantazopoulou

Ioanna Pantazopoulou creates ephemeral monuments and large installations that aim to disrupt, transform and challenge the habitual approach one takes to spaces and objects.

When Ioanna makes, she thinks with her hands. From the viewpoint of an experimenter, she builds what will provoke curiosity and consecutively trigger a whole chain of reactions. Spontaneity and experimentation, trial and error, become vital tools for her work process. She invites "˜chance' to capture her initial ideas in order to mislead the expected journey the work would undertake. She explores the physical and functional properties of found materials and discarded objects and reinvents from what was once rejected.

The outcome appears ecstatic and ambiguous simultaneously suggesting a monumental celebration of ephemeral making and a hint / trace of her activity.

In Pantazopoulou's works there is no single focal point; there is an unruly state of organized chaos that encourages the consideration of the relationships between a number of components and the interaction between things and their contexts.
