Amir Zainorin
Amir Zainorin is a visual artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is born in 1963 in Johor. He had
a certificate in Business Studies from Polytechnic Ungku Omar in Ipoh in 1983 and studied at the
University of Arkansas and University of Kansas City Missouri in the USA from 1986 - 1990.
He met Malaysian pop artist Jeri Azhari in 1995 in Kuala Lumpur and became his apperentice.
Amir finds inspirations from the activity around his surroundings, readymade images and the mass
media. He works in diverse medium, which includes installation, collage, assemblage, video,
photography, drawing and painting.
His work is project based and work on theme such as migration, identity, economics and pop
cultures.
He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions among others at the Balai Seni Lukis Malaysia,
National Art Gallery Singapore, The National Historical Museum of Brazil, Museum of
Contemporary Art Roskilde, Denmark and Immigrant Museum Denmark.
Amir now lives with his wife and their two children in Copenhagen and frequently back to
Malaysia.
