Uwe Langmann is a german fine art phtographer born in 1985. His photographic works deal with the points of intersection between pure photography and classical fine arts. Just as a painter creates an abstraction of what he sees, he attempts to reflect a personal interpretation of reality, going behind and beyond the bare image of it. Employing special techniques, such as over- and long time exposure, preferring to work only in particular light and weather conditions (snow, fog and diffused light due to overcast skies), he isolates abstract forms and structures from concrete objects and classical landscape scenes. Furthermore, he is interested in the poetry of the ordinary, always searching for expression in the commonly overlooked scenes which surround us daily. The concept of “emptiness” from Zen-Buddhism plays an important role in his work. As in the classical Japanese ink paintings, he uses this „emptiness“ in his photographs to create certain spaces for the viewer in which they can project her / his own thoughts and feelings into the images. His works have been shown in many national and international exhibitions as well as art fairs like Art Karlsruhe. He has won many international awards, most prominently Photographer of the Year at OneEyeland Awards and FineArt Photographer of the Year at the Black and White Zebra Awards.
