Statement
My current body of work, Moments, was inspired by observations made while using public transportation. I observed the absence of interaction between fellow commuters and the environment because of endless texting and jamming to IPod music. Opportunities are lost to experience the present moment. My first work on this theme was a public video performance, One Moment. I have continued on this theme with my current abstract installation which is meant to draw viewers into their own moment. The simple use of white paint on rusted steel, organic shapes and structural space asks for an emotional response to the situation. I have chosen to forgo the traditional canvas placement for an irregular floor format.
