Ines Kotarac

If I could try to gather the main motive I pursuit in photography, then that motive would be Beauty. Beauty in all its manifestations, from the transient trace of melancholy in my friend's face to the rich light filtering through the trees.  Photography gave me a language that can most clearly and honestly express how I feel about the world, how I see it and what can I do / want / need to give back. At the same time, by stopping time which in the real world irreversibly passes, it seems to me that in that tiny fraction of a second, by holding breath and moving just one finger, I surpass transience, loss and death.
If every photo is a self-portrait of the author, which I would like to believe is true, then I want  my photographs to be reflections of my amorousness towards life and mirrors in which the world can see its beauty. In the broadest sense, my work deals with people and places, with the intention of creating atmospheric, movie-like and enigmatic scenes. More recently the focus of my interest has been the human body.

She graduated in Comparative literature and Croatian language and literature.
In Fotoklub Zagreb she successfully finished four seminars about photography in general, digital photography and aesthetics of photography. Many other things about photography she found, explored and learned on her own. Self-education rules, she says!

In November 2012. she participated in a group exhibition on THE 4th DAYS OF PHOTOGRAPHY OF TOŠO DABAC ARCHIVE. Her first private exhibition “MY OWN” (Moja) was open in spring of 2013 in a private apartment, where she was living at the time. Her first public, independent exhibition “B IS FOR BODY” (T kao tijelo) was held in October 2013 in the Grey gallery in AKC Medika in ZAGREB, and then it moved in December 2013 to Galerija Garbas in RIJEKA, in February 2014 to Art House Kriterion in SARAJEVO, Bosnia And Herzegovina, in March 2014 to Materra Mesto in NOVI SAD, Serbia and finally in May 2014 it came to Art&bar Suzie Fu in BERLIN. One of her photo is exhibited in group exhibition “MY BEAUTIFUL TREŠNJEVKA” in Modulor Gallery (ZAGREB) in Dezember 2014/January 2015.
