"I paint for the gesture, the pleasure of handling the brush, knife, to scrape off the canvas, the feel and touch.
It is the gesture that often gives rise to the form and the characters, which is frozen on the canvas.
I paint silhouettes of women, men, faces, objects, trees in a universe of warm and vibrant colors.
My painting is inspired by my African childhood memories. I have in mind all things, trees, bodies, faces, shapes, looks.
My work is not return as they are in reality, but to rebuild the rhythm, the momentum, the look, the contour, the posture, the heat. I live in this universe of lost images, I need to make them live.
At the start of each of my paintings, there is the pleasure of the gesture and color that gradually create the image.
Each canvas is an adventure; the brush there led me unless I know exactly the outcome.
The need to create images gives me the freedom to achieve as my eyes and my hand to decide.’’
