ANNE LOPES (born 1966 in Mirassol, Brazil)

Since 2018, she has been living and working in Auckland, New Zealand.

Anne Lopes develops a digital practice grounded in an economy of form, where each line, colour field, and spatial interval carries structural weight. Her square compositions distil everyday gestures and ordinary objects into visual situations that oscillate between clarity and ambiguity. What appears minimal at first glance reveals a subtle interplay of rhythm, tension, and symbolic resonance.
Colour, negative space, and graphic precision operate as primary agents in her work. Rather than describing the world, the images reorganise it—isolating micro‑events, shifting their scale, and transforming them into contemplative fragments. The series proposes a reading of the everyday as a field of small disruptions, where meaning emerges through reduction, displacement, and the careful calibration of visual elements.
The result is a body of work that affirms a distinct visual language: concise, deliberate, and open to interpretation, situated within contemporary digital art’s ongoing dialogue between simplicity and depth.
