Arturo Miquel presents his latest project where he uses his critical postmodernism style to demonstrate his enormous artistic productivity as well as his command of a wide range of techniques.
Given an evident knowledge and delight in traditional western pictorial art, Miquel proposes a unique approach to classical art by distorting its content. In doing so he preserves the engaging aesthetic experience produced by a pictorially skilful work of art while questioning the means of traditional representation and offering a sharp critique of our present day society.
Miquel's degree of criticism varies from the subtle irony exposed in "The Wise" to the more Goyesca style paintings that offer a piercing criticism such as "As Happy As Can Be". Through his unique combination of the past and an enraging present, all of his paintings push us to reflect on the deep transformation that our society is experiencing through currents of globalization difficult to elude.
