Barbara Larkin

Born in Liverpool and lived in North Wales for the last 34yrs

The natural world and its interpretation through memories and stories is the cornerstone of my artistic practice. Walking along the coastline of West Shore, Llandudno, North Wales collecting, sketching and taking photographs of driftwood, shells, pebbles and rocks gives me the inspiration for my paintings.

I am interested in the ambience of nature entwined with mans influence and the ever changing colours of the world around me, the dramatic effects of the weather give vibrant colour and intensity to my canvas in oils, acrylic or mixed media.

Using sand, paper, sometimes crushes shells on canvas or wood gives texture to some of my paintings, using this media I like to convey the feeling of rock pools, seaweed, sun, rain, the influence of the day in an abstract way.
