Larry Richardson graduated from Oakland (California)High School with a full scholarship to California College of Arts and Crafts. It was during this time that he was introduced to the Bay Area art scene and begins to align himself with the local artist.Living in Oakland and going to school in Berkeley one of those local artist was Robert Coldscott who he was influenced by. Their fathers worked together as porters for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
After returning from the military service and living in Japan for three years,he worked in the civil rights movement touring through the Southern states. After one year he concluded his work in the movement and was part of the march on Washington having the honor to be present during the historical "I Have a Dream" speech.He has earned many awards for his work as an artist and is collected by a divergent group of people.
Studied painting at the California College of Arts and Crafts Berkeley California.
Studied figurative drawing under the direction of Joy Von Wolffendorf "Drawing and the Human Figure" at the College of the canyons Santa Clarita California.
