The main themes of my work involve looking at human activity within the global landscape.More specifically it is located around issues of political geography,natural disasters and questions of representation through media imagery as source material. In the context of political geography, it is possible to see the spatially uneven outcomes of historical processes and the ways inwhich these processes are themselves affected and constructed by spatial structures.This conveys a shifting sense of space, location and distance,all these elements are important when making paintings.The source material for the paintings comes from a variety of media imagery,such as newspapers,television and film. Initially,a photograph or photocopy is taken and then the process is repeated with each resulting copy.This deconstructs the original image and moves it further away from it\'s supposed truth.Through this repeated process,which involves it\'s own movement through time and space,an underlying energy is revealed.This \'energy\' offers up an objective and complex vocabulary of visual marks, which are used as a basis for the paintings.There are a number of connections and parallels to be made between the process of making the paintings and the themes t...
