These paintings serve as layer of communication that I feel is often missing between the world and myself; a disconnect which I sometimes struggle to bridge.
Attachments, relationships, and interactions between people are concepts that I draw movement from. I imagine certain forms within the paintings interacting with other forms, which serve as my imaginary stand-ins for social dialogue. Though people often try to interpret these forms literally, they're intended to serve as a visual anchor - familiar, but not recognizable. I try to connect with the viewer by evoking feelings of falling, isolation, fluidity, and awkwardness that are universally understood.
Subjects that I build upon waver between the peculiar and the playful. The bright color palette that I currently utilize reflects that energy. These are social paintings, for I am and we all are social creatures.
