About Frances Broomfield

Born in Warrington, Cheshire in 1951.

I paint small, detailed pictures in oils and tempera on panels. I admire the works of Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear, Cecil Collins, Ivor Cutler, and Jung. My subject matter is anything that appeals to my imagination. I am currently working on a series of paintings about nursery rhymes.


Educated at Warrington Art School and Newport Art College. I have taken part in many mixed and group shows in UK, Europe and USA. Awards include Pollock-Krasner Foundation, New York and London Arts Board. My work has been represented by Portal Gallery, London since 1977. I have had solo shows with Portal and in Warrington.,
