Frank Burke was born shortly after the war in 1947, near what was then still the working ship yards of the Iron Tyne.
After an English degree at York University, he moved to the fishing village of Beadnell in Northumberland. This move was instigated by three seasons working as a warden for the National Trust on The Farne Island Bird Sanctuary.
He has lived next to the changeable North sea ever since working as a Teacher and as an in-shore Fisherman and attempting to paint the sea in it's various conditions.
