Valdemaar Psete

An international artist situated in Amsterdam the Netherlands.
Valdemaar Psete explores the influence of different factors on the way modern reality is experienced. Since the early nineties Valdemaar Psete was interested in the idea of exploring the simulacrumtheorie described by the 20st century French cultural theorist and photographer Jean Baudrillard.
In his works Jean Baudrillard constantly refers to so called Hyper Modern condition. As the philosopher Walter Benjamin seems to have said that there has never been an era that has not felt itself 'excessively modern'. Artworks by Valdemaar Psete refer to usually excessive claims made by contemporary scientists and philosophers, media eminents and art historians who among others contributed to the establishment of this condition.
Hypermodernism refers to a cultural, artistic, literary and architectural movement distinguished from Modernism and Postmodernism chiefly by its extreme and antithetical approach.
