Jackie Morris

I am interested in the historical works from the Baroque period, particularly the works of Caravaggio to Bernini, capturing the action and movement of fabric. I explore the works of the contemporary artist David Reed whose works are read as post-modernisation of baroque drapery, and Alison Watt who I also consider one of my contemporaries who depicts folded cloth suggesting a human presence. In my paintings, the images are combined by combining different genres of work to create new spacial and abstract compositions.

Jackie Morris was born in South Wales, UK in 1976, she currently lives and works in Cardiff. She studied as an undergraduate at Huddersfield University in 1996 – 2000 and graduated with a master’s degree in painting from Bath Spa University in 2007
