If you're a creative person, the reason for living is to create the greatest things you can. That's it. Because all is vanity anyway.

So if I buy oil paintings from 1890, I realize that the man was driven to paint those paintings because he wanted to make his mark while he was on this earth.

I'm a Jane of all trades. The paint in the tubes asks me to please be put on the palette and to be mixed with some white or black and painted.

I've always drawn and painted since I was a child. I took classes in high school. I soon joined the Marines and was off to see the world... all the while keeping the images in my head. In particular the images of my year in Japan.
Fast forward 10 years or so and a local artist McNeil Sargent was giving classes on Saturdays. She opened up the way the Japanese masters painted. I dug out all the photos of Japan I had. I applied the rules and created from them.
I also was influenced by VanGogh, and Monet.
