Jennifer Hannaford

Born in Placerville, California in 1968, Jennifer Hannaford received a Bachelor of Forensic Science from California State University of Sacramento in 1994 and a Masters in Forensic Science from Boston University in 2013.
Her formal career in forensic science began with the Oakland Police Department in 1995, where she processed crime scenes and conducted latent print comparisons. She has also worked in other agencies including the State of Vermont, City of Boston, and New York, where her focus has been processing evidence for the recovery of latent prints and their comparison.
Eager to explore her artistic side, Hannaford is working with a medium that combines her forensic interests with her artistic talents to explore the blur between the easily discernible and the nearly invisible.
As drawn portraits have always been her specialty, she endeavors to capture images of early fingerprint pioneers using her own fingerprint impressions with ink. Intrigued by the grainy impressionistic quality of the pieces, she feels this translates well the images of vintage mug shots "” but her interest in mug shots goes beyond the mere image.
