Lance Rubin

I make drawings as studies for my paintings. My paintings are about people taking "selfie" pictures. This work is about they way we brand ourselves to a digital public on the internet much the same as big companies brand themselves. In many of my paintings the subject reaches into the picture plane because they are holding the camera. I am fascinated by this concept of self branding, and my work is intended to have us, the viewer, examine how we present ourselves to the world. I invite you to join me on my journey in art and witness the evolution of my process as I grow and change, tweaking the way I think about this subject.
