I received my degree in studio art from UC Davis in 2007.
The intent of my work is to engage and connect with the viewer"”to start a conversation between harmony and dissonance, reverence and irreverence.
The exploration of the human condition shapes and stimulates the conception of my work. I employ a narrative, figurative realism with the intention of creating work infused with social commentary. The aim is to treat the subject with honesty, grounded in process and aesthetics.
While I use a variety of materials, my methodology is consistent. My projects are linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter.
My influences range from Baroque masters, such as Ribera and Caravaggio to contemporary artists, such as Steven Assael, Susan Hauptman, Jenny Saville, Lucien Freud and my montor, the late Troy Dalton.
